B.One Hub Australian Launch: Everything You Need To Know It’s far too often the case that Australian customers get the most exciting tech products weeks or months after the rest of the world – and often even then at an inflated price. So when a company announces they’re going to be doing the exact opposite, we sit up and pay attention. This week, the Accumulus Energy Group (AEC) revealed they’ll be bringing Blaze Automation’s B.One Hub and smart home product range to Australia first. Here’s what you need to know: What is the B.One Hub? Basically, if you’ve recently dipped your toes into the world of smart home automation with the launch of Google Home, the B.One Hub is the next step you’ll want to really bring the rest of your home online. “We are thrilled that Australia is leading the world into the next phase of home automation with […]
The B.One Hub Wants To Be Home Automation’s Universal Translator I’m about to move house and one of the things I want to do is invest in some serious home automation. Not just remote switching – that’s easy. I want real automation where I can press a button or say a command like “Goodnight” and all the lights tun off and curtains close. The trouble is systems like this, while available, have been quite expensive and tricky to install in older properties. And renters are pretty much left out of many home automation options. But the B-One Hub wants to change that. It’s a multi-radio device that acts as a universal translator that can deal with thousands of different end-point devices. The B.One Hub is nicknamed “the skateboard” and it’s easy to see how that moniker came to be. It’s quite small, about 20cm long and 12cm or so wide. […]
Adelaide’s Accumulus launches B.One Hub smart home monitor Accumulus Energy Group (AEG), in partnership with US-based Blaze Automation, has launched its B.One Hub in Australia for those unsure if home automation — or the Internet of Things (IoT) in general — is all it’s hyped up to be. The B.One Hub allows for the wireless control and energy consumption monitoring of devices in the home, such as light bulbs, air conditioners, and speakers via a smartphone app. It’s been customised to the local market, and targeted towards those who are not so tech savvy and living in older housing. Speaking with ZDNet ahead of the launch, AEG CEO Anup Raghavan said the Hub’s open architecture makes it compatible with over 200 devices across different brands and ecosystems. Where an appliance is not already available in B.One’s catalogue, the user can also create their own template to control the appliance. Being […]
B.One Hub: not just remote control, but real home automation The B.One Hub is designed to integrate and control a wide variety of sensors and devices around the home. Resembling the progeny of a skateboard and an iPhone 4, the B.One Hub is the fastest wireless smart home automation hub, according to Accumulus Energy Group chief executive Anup Raghavan (pictured). Accumulus is handling the product in Australia, including local R&D and support. It uses dedicated chipsets to work with a variety of standards: Wi-Fi, GSM/GPRS, Z-Wave, Zigbee, and Bluetooth LE. The inclusion of infra-red capability means it is also capable of controlling a wide range of “dumb” devices such as air conditioners, TVs and other home entertainment products. This is the reason for the distinctive shape – it makes it more likely that at least one of the eight IR transmitters will align with a destination device. B.One Hub to rule them all
What the connected home really needs is a smart hub that can tie together all the plug-in home automation gadgets and appliances that use competing standards and don’t talk to each other. That’s where the new B.One Hub comes in. It aims to make sense of the confusing dog’s breakfast of competing standards, protocols and apps that currently make up the DIY home automation market.
